It might be a bit on the latent side as an interface. (Reaper needs to nick their OSC setup and make an app downloadable like that and where you don't even have to know what OSC is.) But they kind of have it set up to run sound using it's integrated mixer. Give your CPU some headroom and give yourself the ability to use a few heavyweight plugins. If live sound is your main gig, you want a system with an interface that lets you achieve < 10ms RTL at a relaxed block size like 128 samples. Any plugin with a higher inherent latency than your block size would "break" the system no matter how screamin fast your computer is. You're probably cutting yourself off from using many plugins with that low a block size. My current machines idle through this workflow. That got me 10ms round trip latency (measured, not theoretical) with my firewire MOTU 828mk3 interfaces in aggregate. I've run live sound with a circa 2008 C2D laptop with 32 live inputs and while recording all the multitrack. also this would be an issue in a recording situation where i want to have live monitiring so its not just a live thing because if i had more than 1 channel record enabled id get garbled audio Ll im tryingto do is run, a few instances of dbx 160, VEQ, Rvox, Cv and a couple H reverbs and H delays. My laptop is an I7 quad core, an older ivy bridge but still turbos to 3ghz and as ive said, live professor and multirack have no problems. Ive tried multiple options, inclding the anticipitave options etc. its as if reaper is not allowing the the plugins to take full advantage of the processor. looking at the performance monitor its only showing 6%, if i check in live professor with the same plugin load its up at 30%. its proven to work via other software down to 32 samples. The setup is with a behringer x32 or midas m32 using the usb interface a 32 in and 32 out interface. it doesn tseem tobe able to cope with more than 1 channel of audio being monitoring live. glitching and distorting happens as if it cant cope with the processing. as soon as more than 1 channel is enabled in reaper. The issue is, that with 1 channel live monitoring enabled, audio is fine. which is actually not much considering when i first started iw as doing full 16 channels (which to be fair is pushing my laptop). i use waves plugins for live professing of sound. I REPEAT ITS AN ISSUE IN REAPERS CONFIG IM TRYING TO WORK OUT FOR LIVE WORK. reaper so far hasnt so it IS A REAPER ISSUE. MY COMPUTER HAS PROVEN THAT IT CAN DO LOW LATENCY OVER USB ONT THE INTERFACES I HAVE USED. So PLEASE, NO you havn mentioned how much ram you have or what ram you have, hard disk etc. ive ran upto 16 channels PLUS FX so thats 16 in and out, plus 4 channels in and another 8 out. My laptop is fully capable of running at 64 and even 32 samples latency, ive proven this with WAVES MULTIRACK and LIVE PROFESSOR using the USB interface on both midas m32 mixing desk and behringer x32 mixing desk. Im not trying to be rude, but i dont have time for messing around and it seems that some people tend to throw in there 2 centres without actually full reading or understanding the issue.
